A True Red
29th June, 2008
For years now unscrupulous nurserymen have been getting away with selling 'Astrantia rubra' seedlings as the 'Hadspens Blood' clone. The bastards!
This image is the actual real deal, so remember to know your provenance because any seed grown plant that can easily be produced by the thousand will not be a true reflection of its parent. The one I have is reproduced from summer divisions and is therefore exactly the same as the mother plant. It is a good 'Masterwort' and dried will last for many years; I have some that are now in their tenth summer so you can't get much better value from a flower.
