Fire & Ice
30th June, 2008
With clean and crisp variegation the Hosta 'Fire & Ice' is a proven winner. I have never been too keen on Hostas because of the similarity between many of the variegated forms. However that is a personal viewpoint and I can appreciate that some people will notice more than others the subtle differences between cultivars.
In recent years I have taken to propagating Hostas during the summer around the time of the school holidays. Dig up a clump, divide into single shoots and pot these up into 7cm pots, these are then placed into a shade tunnel or other shady spot to grow on. This method works for many perennials and I shall take you through some of them over the coming weeks.
