The Hanging Tree

12th October, 2008

The Hanging Tree
When someone describes a leaf as 'Heart shaped' there can be no better representation than this leaf in all its beautiful scarlet autumnal colour. This is 'Cercis canadensis Forest Pansy' or at least it is a single leaf up close. A lovely form of the Judas tree on which Judas Iscariot is supposedly to have hung himself after his betrayal of Jesus, however I've seen no evidence for either event, though it does make a good story I guess. Peter became pope and Judas got the rope. Imagine if there had been no Judas, there might have been no crucifixion, no cross, no Christianity, no crusades, no Spanish inquisition, and no paedophile priests, that would really have buggered up Gods prophetic plan, after all Judas was only doing what was expected and foretold on the journey to redemption.
