Autumn Colour....What's your favourite?
19th October, 2008
With the hounds of hell baying at the door tonight (gales) I expect very few leaves to be left on the branches of this fine little selection of one year old Japanese maple grafts. Although this is their first season they are making a delightfully vibrant show at the moment and the full range of colours from the gold's of 'Kinshi' through to the bright crimson of 'Osakazuki' are on display, it is one of my favourite times of year with the autumnal colours not just from maples but from other stalwarts that regularly make an appearance, plants such as Prunus sargentii, Sorbus commixta, Gymnocladus, Cercidiphyllum, Euonymus, Parrotia, Larch, and Red oaks of course. These are a few names off the top of my head, though such is the vastness of plants for foliar colour that everyone will have their own personal recommendation. Please send me an email and tell me yours as I'm always looking to grow and provide the best there is, and it's great to get any input.
