Plants, Pigs, & Scanners
21st October, 2008
It is difficult to imagine a more beautiful picture of autumnal colour than today's image. No matter where I travel and what sights I see before me, there is always something comforting, cyclical, timeless, and simply breathtaking about colouring foliage. There is no life on earth possible without plants and no plants 'need' to produce this display, it just happens through sun, frost, and rain. It is a free show from the processes of nature and it opens our eyes with wonderment, if a man or woman is not amazed and humbled by a beautiful autumn then they can surely be no more than an arsehole with legs....mind you, I've seen quite a few of those on daytime TV on the likes of Jerry Springer & Co. Titles along the lines of 'My boyfriend shagged my pet Vietnamese pot-bellied pig...then ate her' ......How anyone can eat pork is beyond credibility!
I had a brain scan today, and while lying in this noisy hi-tech cylinder trying to ignore my itching nose, toe, and bottom, I thought of the colours in today's picture and it took my mind off things (the itching bits), I'd not had a scan before and never realised just how claustrophobic they could be, so while I await the results it was highly comforting to know, and maybe surprising to some, that there was actually something in there resembling a brain, it is further comforting to know that science, as wonderful as it is, as yet can't see what's going on inside the brain/mind....or we'd all be in serious trouble!
