House of Cards

We humans have much to be grateful for. We have intelligence, free will, and an enduring ability to tackle problems should we be moved so to do. Yet we seemingly have a self destructing nature that regularly throughout our history prostrates itself on the alter of greed, hatred, envy, and blatant self interest to the point of intense violence towards our fellow beings. So I find it interesting that the impending gloom and doom I am about to forecast is nothing to do with any of these vices, but will allow the good side of mankind to hopefully shine through the historical record of selfishness and cause a new vision of humanity to be seen. Though I personally think there is fuck all chance of that happening.
I am talking food security. I do not believe we are prepared for the gathering storm. I have banged on and on about this for years now and bored people to distraction, yet we all eat, drink, shit, shag, and make merry regardless because we think the "powers' or "they" will sort it all out.....THEY will not.
Global warming has and is changing weather patterns. Some will say it is a natural cycle and climate change is a fallacy. I think many of those that deny the problem do so for effect. They take the contrary view because it gives them the alternative ground, elevates their perceived intellectual processes by looking more academic and thoughtful. Much in the same way some middle class mothers for example will reason with their misbehaving child in public, it is usually done in both a loud and affected way and is more for public display than correction of the spoilt little snotnose.
Russia has today banned exports of grain, Pakistan has floods, China landslides, many of the prairies have greatly reduced yields, and bees are disappearing.....Even Dr Who is worried about the bees!
On this island of 70 million souls we have not the slightest chance of self sufficiency, do not believe the good life guide to country living. We are simply unable to feed ourselves, even if we were it would take a year to set up. Our supermarkets have enough food for 3-7 days.....hardly enough to satisfy the ever increasing number of lard arses I see on the average day out in town.....some are so fat now they have four tits.....and the women are little better.
All the money and weapons and city bankers in the world cannot take out what is not there. As a nation we have had time to prepare for this, we have chosen to ignore matters that seemed obvious and have done so at our peril. The cards are in the air and it will be interesting to see which way they fall over the coming winter. Bread at a fiver a loaf?......We shall see.......
