Lucifer v Hellfire

There are times in this business that a new plant comes along with all the fanfare and hype of celebrity big brother, and is probably just as lacking in substance. Occasionally a plant comes along with none of the guff yet proves to be really interesting. In the case of todays image there are two crocosmia blooms, on the left is the ever popular Crocosmia 'Lucifer' and on the right is the new Crocosmia 'Hellfire'.

When hellfire first came out a few years back I assumed it was just Lucifer by another name, however it has had time to grow and develop in my own garden and the difference is quite plain to see. I stand corrected and my cynicism suitably corrected.
