Images from The Savill Garden 1/8

I had long since given up on a visit to Savill. But why? Generally too busy or just too lazy to make the 500 mile round trip to get there and back.
I am so glad to have done the journey, albeit as an excursion out from some personal matters I was in the South of England for, and to visit a close friend, not that I have too many friends with the attitude of a "friend in need" being a right proverbial pain in the arse....but those long suffering friends I do have live forever under the misapprehension that I don't really mean it.
Savill is fantastic. It is not the most dramatic time just now, any plantsman however will see the magic that has been and has yet to unfold. It is not a place to spend a day, it is somewhere to spend several days and I loved every minute of my visit. The notes pages on my iphone are full of ideas and plants and plantings.
Mahonia lomariifolia is a must have plant, as are Acer grosseri hersii; Prunus mackii "Amber Beauty"; and Acer conspicuumm "Pheonix"; All caught my eye and I have simply to find good specimens for the gardens.....Though which one? Eggleston? Plantsmans Corner? or my home garden, the latter has very little room so it's a decision between the others really.....
