There is nothing quite like the summer garden, todays image is part of my home garden last summer, it a comfort in the middle of winter to look back, most gardeners are generally optimistic folk but even optimists can get down with week after week of snow and cold, to recall the glory of the plant world can be a tonic, there is nothing like ones own personal Eden to revive the spirits.

I have been listening to ever so many radio 4 programs about the King James version of the Bible, it is 400 years since the Lords word was translated into the fine old English text we know and love or remember from Sunday school. Still a complete crock of shit to me but sells well by all accounts. I find difficulty considering the possibility how anyone with 0.0001% of their brain cells working could even contemplate the thing as having the remotest grain of truth, but then I believe 16 million people watched Eastenders over Christmas......not that I would wish any harm to anyone with such beliefs....whatever their Gods name is. However it's always worth remembering, tolerance, freedom of speech or opinion, and human equality have never been reciprocated in such matters.

How can it be?

Do not all holy books incite certain actions and reactions to the "unbeliever" as a duty and as a measure of ones own particular faith......faith being unwavering belief regardless of proof even the existence of evidence.

Personally I marvel at creation. I love nature and the possibility of a creation is not something I could dogmatically disregard. My issues are with organized religions who I consider contemptible. Perhaps even the 'Hedge' or 'White' Witch or the host of other spurious New Age philosophies have more to offer in todays world, even just for the placebo effect, leastways, as far as I am aware none preach hate, self-loathing, or blood spilling vengeance. Church or mosque, palace or spire, they all seem to piss in the same pot and for too long have been the bully in the playground that makes life for everyone except their own sycophantic followers a misery.

Never mind....the days are gradually extending their sunlight hours. It will get warmer. The skies and seas are blue on a good day, and all will be well in the garden soon enough.

In response to so many requests I shall be starting a good round up of the best cottage garden plants later this week.

A.T... Todays title is an irritating expression that seems to be popping into everyday conversation.....has anyone else noticed the habit of some interviewees to start an answer to a question with the word 'So'......why is this?
