Acer palmatum 'Ichigyoji' (Japanese Maple)

Common Name

Japanese Maple

Soil

Any non alkaline soil. Correct light more important

Aspect

Sun or partial shade

25ft (eventually)

Action and Timing

The sister plant to “osakazuki” except the autumn colour is an intense golden yellow as opposed to crimson. Large broad leaves on an upright tree to 20-25ft. Traditionally in Japan “Ichigyoji” and “Osakazuki” are planted near a pond or either side of a path to appreciate the beautiful contrast, Ichigyoji is happy in any light.

Nursery Notes

Grafted plant.

Opinion

A fantastic form that the Japanese adore....quite rightly.
