Acer palmatum 'Osakazuki'

Acer palmatum 'Osakazuki' (Japanese Maple)

Common Name

Japanese Maple

Soil

Any non alkaline soil. Correct light more important

Aspect

Sun or partial shade

Height

25-30ft

Action and Timing

A stunning maple of intense autumnal colour, a burning bush of pure crimson whose spring foliage is every bit as fresh and invigoratingly green, Osakazuki is a superb upright form to 30ft and happy in any light. When planted near its sister seedling “Ichigyoji” whose autumn yellow is every bit as dramatic the effect is stupendously breathtaking, it is a classic combination. The palmate leaves of both forms are large.

Nursery Notes

Grafted plant.

Opinion

They do not come anymore reliably finer and dramatically beautiful in the autumn than this good old traditional variety.
