Action and Timing

A stunning selection from the Trompenburg arboretum, Rotterdam, with unusual leaves that are deeply divided and radiate out evenly like long fingers, the edges of which are rolled under giving an almost ‘tube’ like appearance. This extraordinary foliage is an outstanding deep purple red, and is held well into late summer when the autumnal colouration becomes distinctly crimson. ‘Trompenburg’ is a strong upright grower that broadens with age, un-pruned it can exceed 30ft in height and 12ft in width in sun or shade….that’s a lot of beauty for your money.

Nursery Notes

Grafted plant

Opinion

Plant this one and just let it go if you have the space. Don't fiddle or piss about with it....decide where you want it and let it stand as a testament to your good taste for years to come. It will get better every year. A fine tall tree.
