Flowers throughout early and mid autumn, beautiful sprays (panicles) of starry lavender coloured blooms.
Nursery Notes
Easy to grow and to divide, probably best in spring. Use only strong young shoots from the outside of a clump. Relatively mildew free.
Opinion
I love this plant. I would grow more asters but mildew is the bane of my life with them. Keeping asters evenly moist helps but it is hard to find time to fanny on when there is so much else to do on a nursery. I have a few reliably mildew free asters and content myself with those rather than frustrate myself with all I would wish to keep.
Little Carlow will brighten up your border no end.
