Hosta 'Francee'

Hosta 'Francee' (Plantain Lily)

Common Name

Plantain Lily

Soil

Moist but not wet

Aspect

Tolerates morning sun

Height

4ft wide x 2ft high

Action and Timing

Dark green leaf with a crisp clean margin of white, slightly cupped, puckered, and well veined. Flowers are pale lavender.

Nursery Notes

Propagate by division. This is a dense vigorous grower that bulks well and looks good in containers or border alike.

Opinion

Considered one of the 'classic' hostas I don't particularly like it, however it is always popular, though I tend to go for a hosta named 'Carol' which is similar but has a wider margin. Both these hostas have good clean green colour, though this can fade somewhat with too much sun.
