Hosta 'Halcyon'

Hosta 'Halcyon' (Plantain Lily)

Common Name

Plantain Lily

Soil

Moist but not wet

Aspect

Light Shade

Height

18 inches high x 40 inches wide.

Action and Timing

Thick, smooth intense blue leaves with a flat edge. Flowers are almost white and borne in a dense cluster on blue-grey stems.

Nursery Notes

Propagate by division, though some say it comes true from seed....I do not believe this and seedlings should not be sold as Halcyon.

Opinion

A fine hosta, stunning in a container or in large clumps anywhere in the garden. Much used in breeding Halcyon is a fine workhorse of a hosta.
