Hosta 'Pineapple Upside Down Cake'

Hosta 'Pineapple Upside Down Cake' (Plantain Lily)

Common Name

Plantain Lily

Soil

Moist but not wet

Aspect

A little morning sun tolerated

Height

18 inches high x 4ft wide

Action and Timing

Chartreuse to golden yellow leaf with a thin irregular dark green margin, occasional streaks towards the centre. The matt leaves have a nice bloom below and are ripple edged and tapered being 3inches wide at their widest point and about 9 inches long. Flowers are lavender on a golden stem.

Nursery Notes

Hot sun will fade out the leaf colour dramatically. Propagate by division, though it is only of mediocre vigour ion nurseryman terms

Opinion

I love this hosta. It is vastly different, looks good all summer, and is quite frankly an interesting shape and form despite the weird name. Recommended.
