Hosta 'Torchlight'

Hosta 'Torchlight' (Plantain Lily)

Common Name

Plantain Lily

Soil

Moist but not wet

Aspect

Part to full shade

Height

14 inches high by 3ft wide

Action and Timing

A dark olive green hosta (mine gets too much sun) with an irregular ivory margin turning white in time. Burgundy red stems and red spotted flower stems are highly distinguishing features. Flowers are a deep lavender on upright stems, buds often surrounded by a leafy ruff or bract.

Nursery Notes

Propagate by division...seed could provide some interesting offspring.

Opinion

An absolutely highly desirable and gardenworthy hosta. Great for contrast and containers, and you would do well to ignore my pathetic image and look on google for some better ones.
